All veterans and serving personnel are welcome.
While our sessions are based in North Devon, we aim to expand and support veterans and serving personnel across the UK.
Optional support:
Outdoor clothing available.
Transport from Barnstaple available, please email rootcauseproject@outlook.com to arrange.
There’s no requirement to talk, but we’re here if you want support.

What Happens at a Session
Our sessions are led by veterans and are practical, hands-on, and grounded.
You can expect:
- Bushcraft & Survival
- Wild cooking & campfire dits.
- Space to relax, reflect, or simply chat by the fire
Bushcraft and survival are tools, not the focus our aim is to create a space where you can reset, reconnect, and feel understood.
Family Days – Root Cause School Holidays
Serving or veteran family?
You don’t have to choose between your wellbeing and time with your kids.
During school holidays, we’re opening FREE family sessions that include:
Time outdoors
Survival skills & bushcraft
Campfire brews
Space to reconnect with people who understand military life.
No pressure. No performance. Just quality time together.
We’ll see you by the fire.
