Accessibility is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the outdoors, especially veterans who may have limited or partially restricted mobility. That’s why we’re committed to providing inclusive sessions in nature, ensuring that all veterans can enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the woods.
Enhancing Accessibility at Hakeford Woods
We’ve assisted the team at Hakeford Woods to make significant improvements in accessibility. With funding from the Army Benevolent Fund, we’ve helped create accessible boardwalks and stairs, along with a fully equipped disabled toilet. These enhancements are designed to ensure that veterans of all mobility levels can explore and participate in activities at Hakeford Woods without barriers.
Transportation Made Easy
Getting to the woods should be just as accessible as enjoying them. Thanks to support from the National Lottery Community Fund, we are able to provide transport from Barnstaple directly to Hakeford Woods in our van. This service ensures that veterans can reach the site comfortably and safely, making it easier for them to attend sessions and enjoy their time in nature.
Continuing Our Mission
We are proud to make Hakeford Woods a more accessible and inclusive environment, and we are deeply grateful to our partners and funders who have made these changes possible. As we continue to work towards expanding accessibility for all veterans, we look forward to offering more sessions that provide both the physical and mental health benefits of spending time outdoors.
