Open Day Showcases Nature’s Power for Veteran Well-being

Last Friday, we had the pleasure of hosting an open day to share how we harness the restorative power of nature to support veterans and serving personnel in North Devon. Through our unique approach, we help individuals rest, reflect, and improve their well-being and mental health, all within the calming environment of the outdoors.

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with like-minded organisations, including The Royal Marines Charity, North Devon Voluntary Services (NDVS), Encompass Southwest, and the NHS. We were excited to explore how we can collaborate to enhance the lives of veterans and serving personnel in our community. By working together, we believe we can have a greater impact, offering vital support to those who need it most.

The open day was designed to replicate the experience of our free sessions for veterans and serving personnel. This allowed our guests to experience first-hand the services we provide and gain a deeper understanding of how we can collaborate to improve lives in North Devon. The day ran from 10 am to 2 pm, with lunch provided for all attendees.

Activities included a mix of hands-on experiences like woodcraft, woodland management, and wild cooking. For those who preferred a more relaxed experience, sitting around the fire, chatting, with a warm wet. The day offered a taste of the serenity and camaraderie that are core to our project.

We believe nature’s healing potential is profound, and by bringing together community partners, we’re confident that we can continue to make a meaningful difference in the well-being of veterans and serving personnel across North Devon. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to this important conversation!
